We got this tv 4 days ago, and I am THRILLED with it! My husband & I were hesitant to get it because it's only 60hrz. My Mom has a 120 hrz tv & I had to turn it off....it drove us all nuts! That's why we opted for a tv without the 120 feature.....great choice, and save hundreds too! 120 hrz cheapens all of the movie magic. Now I feel like I'm in my own movie theater with this tv. The HD channels look AMAZING on this, even regular cable look fabulous. The color is so vivid, and the sound is not bad either! Highly recommend this tv!!!!!

Like many others, I spent a great amount of research looking for a great TV and initially focused on plasmas. The plasmas had 4 issues that motivated me to switch to an LCD/LED: Break-in period, Burn-In, Buzzing, and High Energy costs. That is not to say that all plasmas have these problems as only some users claimed to have the problem on a specific model while others did not, but these were issues many users experienced at varying degrees.

Then, I focused my efforts on LCD/LED and selected the Samsung LED UN55C5000 based on C o n s u m e r reports giving an overall rating paralleling the picture quality of a plasma without the problems mentioned above. I was looking for an excellent rating in HDTV picture quality from both an HDTV and SDTV source. So, I ordered this set from Amazon which had a great price (1 3 9 7 d o l l a r s) and in just a few days the set arrived.

The TV sits in my bonus room 16x20. I was worried about getting a TV too large for the room which is why I went with the 55" but realized a 58" or 60" may have worked as well. The TV generates a wonderful picture and looks great from a 1080i source (which I get from Direct TV, don't know when they will be broadcasting 1080p) and the SDTV looks very good too.

I do not rent movies because I get all of the movie channels and just wait for the new releases to hit my premium channels (watching CLASH of the TITANS tonight). I am a movie afficiando and exclusively watch movies, no sports. However, I have read comments about blurring with 60hz speeds which I believe is an issue with sports viewing; so I watched some football, hockey, basketball, and tennis, but did not see the blur I had read about.

One of the things that is universally accepted with all large screen TV's is poor sound but, I believe the sound from the TV supplied speakers is quite good. However, I had planned early on to buy a sound system because I wanted to enhance the viewing experiencing with great sound. But, I had also decided against a home theater system consisting of a receiver, center, front, and rear speakers because I have had this set-up before and I did not appreciate the vast amount of wiring required with this kind of sound system. So, just as I did with my TV, I spent a great amount of research on a sound system that sounded great without all of the wiring requirements. Initially, I planned to go with Yamaha's YSP-4100 + sub-woofer, then looked at Sony HT-CT350, Yamaha YSP-2200 (too new), and the ZVOX 575HSD(5 9 9 D O L L A R S). I went with the ZVOX because it had excellent reviews from both professionals and users, would incorporate well with my configuration, and the company provided a 30-day return guarantee if I wasn't satisfied with their product. After a few days of watching my TV and listening to the TV supplied speakers, the ZVOX arrived. This unit (36" wide, 5" high) sits right on top of my entertainment center and the TV sits atop of the ZVOX. Just connect the optical cord from the TV to the ZVOX, turn off TV internal speakers via the Samsung menu, plugged in the power cord and I was ready.

I found that you get greater sound effects on the ZVOX based on what you are watching since some movies tend to produce better than others. I've also read this system tends to get better with use. WHITEOUT, 2012, ASTROBOY, STARSHIP TROOPERS, G-FORCE all sounded and looked great and ZVOX greatly intensified the movie experience. Also, note that my bonus room has 4 walls and this is an ideal configuration for any sound system.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the combination of the Samsung UN55C5000 and the ZVOX 575HSD. By the way, the yearly energy cost of the Samsung is (3 2 D O L L A R S), and the remote is easy to use.

I was searching for a 1080p HDTV to fully appreciate my blu-ray player. My 4-year old 40-inch LCD (Samsung) is 1080i and it now looks dated thanks to newer technology. My new TV must be 1080p, aesthetically gorgeous, preferably LED and preferably 50-inch+ under $2,000. This Samsung UN55C5000 certainly fits the bill. Refresh rate was almost irrelevant since differences in picture quality between 60hz (series 5) and 120hz (series 6) were not convincing enough for me to burn extra dollars. I am not sure how 240hz would compare.

I have had this UN55C5000 for three weeks now. I connected it to a home theater system and Xbox as well as to my media center PC as a secondary monitor. The picture quality is, perhaps as expected, absolutely mesmerizing. It is just so good that my guests often mistake desktop background pictures for real printed drawings. Definitely the best in its class, in my opinion. After playing with the picture settings for a while, I realized the factory default setting was just good enough.

Aesthetically speaking, I couldn't be happier. The design is very slim, clean and simplistic yet elegant. After all, even when turned off, it looks like a piece of art hanging on the wall. Whoever visits my house, the first thing they do is praising the TV. For some people, it takes a few long seconds to realize it is in fact a TV. It is so thin and light, screaming to be attached to the wall. All the hookups are carefully laid out for a clean look.

LED TVs are known to consume less energy. I can tell that my new Samsung produces noticeably less heat than the LCD. I have no comments on sound. I turn off the TV speakers and use my home theater.

The only downside I can think of is its remote controller. It has glowing big buttons (they have backlight) on a strikingly boring shaped body. I think it is designed exclusively for older people with big hands. It looks odd next to the TV aesthetically.

I definitely recommend this Samsung to those looking for a 50+ inch TV. I would say not to settle with something for less.

Awesome TV! I was a little hesitant to buy it because of the lack of reviews, but really glad I did. This is Samsung's entry level 3D 2011 model, but the only thing indicating that is the price. I'm not sure if you can get a better deal on a 55" 3D capable LED TV.

PROS: Looks awesome, 0.5" bezel makes it look great! WiFi is built-in, so no need to spend another $60 on an adapter.

CONS: There really aren't any, besides being able to tweak a lot of picture settings which can be a burden for people with OCD :)

Pros:

Appearance:
From the get go, I pulled thing out of the box, and I was impressed on the thiness. Next I put it on the bezel stand and put it in our armoire and was completely awed at the cleaness and style.

Set Up:
was a breeze, got on my WiFi right away, updated the firmware and away we went.

Movies:
I hooked up my media PC to it, with over 400 HD movies I have, I ran at least 10 movies on it. First I went simple, TRON with Auto Motion is crisp and clean and lifelike I do not know how you go back to regular viewing ever again. Next I tried 3D and threw in How to Train Your Dragon, and it was so clear and clean and had such good depth perception I was totally impressed.

Color:
I have a Plasma TV Panasonic 42" and this Samsung LED kills it, it bar non has better color and clarity without a second thought.

Sound:
Very clean and very strong however it lacks bass to be expected with its thinness, but sounds great enough to fill a 15x15 room with sound.

Cons:

The stand:
comes out to far, its a nick pick but I wish at least in the front of it it was short so it didn't come out so far past the screen.

Auto Motion Stuttering:
I love, but if you are streaming, it will stutter every 20 sec or so if you don have a clean connection. Which I didnt, so I went out and bought a Netgear Powerline 500av and it fixed that issue

For those of you who do not know what Powerline is, its a way to extend your Ethernet connection through your power lines to any room in your house, my tv is down stairs, even though the WiFi is built in to the TV it was not strong enough to get 1080p without hiccups even on my Wireless N Router, due to interference most likely. I love auto motion, its the reason why I bought this TV.

Flashlights:
the term used to describe the LED light leaks in the corner of the screen in really black scenes, its not bad but its there.

Smart HubAll Share:
has a long way to go, still to cluttered, most things cost money, and all share is a pain, your better off hooking a pc up and streaming from it, as all share does NOT play MKVs and has trouble with MP4s. It doesnt do a direct connect to it instead uses its folder structure and its a mess. Music and Pics all worked fine. All Share is not fluid and easy to set up as of yet.

BottomLine:

The TV software has some tweaks to really make it multimedia like most TVs are trying to pull off, and LED lighting issues are there but very small seems to be common however: this is a LED TV and it main purpose is for watching movies and video and I have a very nice plasma and I have seen the amazon show floor (called best buy) and looked at all kinds of LEDs and even Samsung very own 8000 series, and I still think this is the best of the line period, I am picking up a 55" soon of the 6500 to go in my media room, get this LED you will absolutely love it.

I purchased this TV from Amazon a week ago and so far I am enjoying it very much. It is my 3rd LCD flat screen over almost as many years as they have been on the market. This is far better the one I purchased 2 years ago. The picture is outstanding, almost too good. Some people who watch it with me say it looks too real and not like a TV and shows detail you were not meant to see. I do not consider that a negative. The SMART TV variety of options including Samsung Apps are fairly good and extensive but sadly do not include Amazon which tempted me to knock the rating down to 4 stars. The set up and use of the apps and other features is not as intuitive as it could be and that probably does knock the rating down to 4 and half stars. Many of the Apps like with apple ipod you have to purchase, others claim to be free but after you connect you have to pay a fee.

The caveat being I have yet to connect a 3-D source or buy the glasses. So I can not review that aspect of the TV. The picture in 2-D is very 3-D as you truly get the illusion of depth because of the picture quality and you do not have to mess with glasses. I will soon take the 3-D plunge and hopefully amend this review to include that aspect.

But if you want a great picture in your bedroom, it is bright with tons of contrast and exceptionally sharp. It is quite glossy and those with light source issues may consider a less reflective TV to avoid reflected light on the screen.

I purchased this just after it came out and the price dropped today. I have every confidence that Amazon who always has treated me better than any other retailer will live up to the price reduction guarantee. Again I will attempt to follow up with this review and let everyone know how that price guarantee worked for me.

Additional information: Amazon informed me they have refunded the difference in price I paid and the current lower price on Amazon. I am so happy with Amazon for going beyond what any other retailer does.

I needed a new television, and the Sceptre was a good value. The picture and sound are fine when you're watching television. I don't have cable (I use antenna), and one major broadcast channel does not come in, whereas with my old name brand television it came in just fine. Slightly annoying, but my biggest issue with this television is that, when playing a DVD, the "widescreen" aspect setting stretches out the picture. You have to set it on "normal," which then under-utilizes the screen, because you have a 32" screen but a 22" picture. Also, it is pretty slow to turn on and slow to change channels. However, it is a decent, value television and it is way better than the old fashioned kind. I will probably keep it around for a few years and then upgrade to a higher quality later.

It's a 32" tv that has clear picture, and sound, with ports to spare. After comparing it to my 32" Vizio E322VL tv, it is more pixelated when viewing it at a close distant. But at a proper viewing distant, it presents a clear image that looks nice with HD channels. it's also as bright as the Vizio. The stand doesn't tilt up and down, but it can be turned left and right if needed. All and all, for 250$ (what I bought it for) its a great bargain for a no name brand.

Received my new TV today. Amazon refunded me the difference between the 299 price and the 244 memorial day price at a major dept store. So, it was a very good price. As for the TV, I was expecting something to meet basic needs in a home office. I don't have an HD box in the room so I started out just connecting to cable and seeing what the QAM tuner could find. I didn't count the channels but...there's a lot. The major channels are coming in HD and the picture is nice - bright and clear - color is nice. I'm not extremely picky so if you are a videophile: 1) don't take my word for it 2) why are you looking at a bargain basement 32 inch TV? But if you are looking for a basic set, seems fine to me. Doesn't seem as crisp as my panny plasma or mitsu dlp but...so. Remote is basic, but fine. Sound is fine. I see lots of picture and sound adjustment options but haven't played with them yet. There are no weird bars on the right side and no pixels wrapping around to the other side (in other words I didn't get a faulty set). And for the person who wrote a review based on different TVs they bought 4 years ago...no, this one doesn't have that problem either. I can't speak to longevity for obvious reasons. If I run into a problem in a few months I'll try to remember to come back here and update. If you are like me and were looking for an inexpensive set to do a basic job, I don't think you will be unhappy. I'm tempted to give it 5 stars based on the fact that it is everthing I wanted/expected it to be but...it didn't change my life or anything. And that's my story.

We bought one of these sets at CostCo. With a good HDTV source, the picture was spectacular. We had to turn the brightness down and dial back the color saturation a notch to make it look more natural, but I would assume/hope that anyone investing in a high-end set would tune it to their tastes.

Unfortunately, the set we got was defective and we had to return it. The defect was something in the backlight. The lower two-thirds of the screen would go half-gray sometimes, usually on a fadeout. Or the whole picture would go black for a half-second. This was a repeatable error, though it did not occur at the same place every time. I don't know if the set we got was a lemon or if this behavior shows up in other units, but it was clearly not acceptable behavior in a high-end set.

We also noticed that when the image panned across a gray or white background that the backlighting was slightly uneven.

We were very disappointed because we've seen a lot of Vizio sets in a lot of places, including all over some of our favorite restaurants, and the picture has always been good, and if it were only a defective backlight, we would have replaced the set.

If you get a set without the backlight problem, you'll be very happy with the 2D picture. The price is certainly attractive and the set delivers enough bang-per-buck that you will be satisfied with it for many years.

But if you're looking for a good 3D set, this is not your best choice. While the polarized glasses are much less expensive and much more comfortable to wear than active-shutter glasses, the 3D on this set has visible artifacts. Apparently, it uses interleaved frame-lines for the 3D image, because scan lines are visible in the 3D image, unless you move far enough back. But even allowing for that, the 3D quality is still problematic because fast movement in 3D is not smooth, it flickers. And when you have a sharp vertical line between a dark shape and a light one, when that object moves you'll see a brief red edge, particularly noticeable on the hero's face and hair in Monster House.

The Vizio TVs are good in general, but our experience with this particular unit was disappointing. We had high hopes for the polarized 3D and if that had worked as promised we might have considered an exchange. Now, we're going to wait for the next generation Panasonic Viera.

As always, do your research, and make sure that wherever you buy, there's a good return policy.
